Art experiences are among the most valuable of preschool activities. We love using liquid watercolors for preschool art for so many reasons! It is a medium that provides open-ended art experiences that produce lovely results. Using them with droppers helps promote fine motor skills, and builds creativity and confidence in young artists. They are also environmentally friendly and free of allergens. We have used them for many projects in The Homegrown Preschooler and A Year of Playing Skillfully! You can see the children in the above collage dropping liquid water-color on a mirror covered in salt. This was a very satisfying open-ended art project that they came back to throughout the day.
The project below is a Dale Chiluly art study that explored the artistic properties of the Machia bowls. You can find it in A Year of Playing Skillfully.
