Earlier this year, The Homegrown Preschooler booth was placed across from Lauren Bradenburg and her “Boone” books. It was a joy to watch Lauren share her passion with parents and children. Of course, we bought her books and couldn’t wait to share them with our children. We are excited to be giving away a set of Lauren’s books. We have asked Lauren to introduce Boone Tackett to you. Welcome, Lauren…
It started as one—just one. In 2008 our household was dwelling in the blows of a collapsing real estate market. As the wife of a land developer, our lifestyle was undergoing complete renovation as my husband fought to sustain our way of life, but it wasn’t to be. In the midst of it all, I believe that God provided me with a distraction. His name was Boone—a twelve year old boy growing up in normalcy, until, like me, he would discover something new, something that would change him and turn him into the person he was truly designed to be.
Boone: The Ordinary introduces readers to a spiritual place that exists deep within the earth—a world where Boone Tackett faces a most out of the ordinary adventure of faith, family, and friendship. While learning what it takes to be a leader among this new community, he finds himself battling wolves, and confronting a dark enemy.
In Boone: The Forgotten the adventure continues in this subterranean land when Boone is tasked with retrieving a group of misplaced collectors. In order to do so, he will have to locate a long lost book, travel by underground sailboat, and locate the mysterious binders.
Book three, Boone: The Sanctified, will release December 15th on Amazon. A false prophet has labeled Boone a traitor and exiled him from the place he once loved. With a group of uniquely gifted friends by his side, Boone has to decide if returning to the underground world to save his family from servitude is worth the possibility of destroying everything he once loved. The Ordinary, The Forgotten, and The Sanctified complete the first trilogy of The Books of the Gardener.
In late summer of 2015, I plan to introduce my young readers to Orlo in book 4 of the now ten book series. At first there was one book, a hobby that gave me a place to hide until it was time to come back out and deal with the reality around me. Now, there are three trilogies with one grand finale—there is no more hiding, only experiencing. My life has changed quite a bit since I first met Boone. And like Boone, I have grown and changed, relied on my faith, and am making my best attempt at fulfilling what I believe to be my Kingdom assignment.
