If the Homegrown Preschoolers have a feast, you are likely to find platters of my Gluten-Free Pumpkin Spice Donuts. They are my “A-game” and my most requested recipe. I have lots of people in my life who are gluten-free for various reasons, and I love them by making them delicious food. A tasty gluten-free donut was elusive for us for many years, but I think I have finally perfected it. As a matter of fact, I used to make a platter of wheat flour ones and a platter of gluten-free for every party. Now I only make gluten-free because you just can’t tell the difference, and the gluten-free ones actually are better!
This weekend we had the pleasure of speaking at the Southeast Homeschool Expo. One of our favorite vendors that we look forward to seeing at various conferences is Knights Book Nook. The Knight family bubbles over with delightful kids, and their science supplies are top notch. We especially love their chunky test tubes and magnets for preschool science! Anyway, one of their children has a health issue that requires careful attention to diet, and I promised him a load of gluten-free donuts when they all came to Atlanta. If you happened by our booth when the donuts were out, you might have sampled one. Everyone wanted the recipe, so here it is!
These babies are baked, not fried. You will need to buy a few donut pans before baking these. I started with one, but soon became tired of only baking six donuts at a time. Now I have four! My favorites are these, which you can find at Amazon for less than you will pay at Michaels or Hobby lobby, even with a 40% off coupon.
