As I was driving to Bible Study this morning, I heard on the radio that it was only two weeks until Thanksgiving. How could that be? Wasn’t it just July? My mind began to process the fact that it was almost Thanksgiving and then… CHRISTMAS. What would I cook? What does everyone want for Christmas? How will we afford it? After my initial freak out, I took a deep breath and remembered the promise I made to myself. This year will be different. This year, I am determined to have a stress-free Christmas. If I am being honest, this is what I say to myself every year and every year I fail. I try and do too much, say yes too often, and find myself rushed and stressed instead of relaxed and joyful.
That old saying, “Failing to Plan is Planning to Fail” is so true in my life. I know the times I am the most stress-free are the times I put in the work to plan. I am confident that the only way to accomplish my goal is to plan out my Christmas season. I am going to plan menus, plan a reasonable schedule, plan to make Gingerbread, plan to have my shopping done early, plan to sit by the fire and read Christmas books and plan to focus on the reason for the season.
To help me plan my stress-free Christmas, I downloaded Well Planned Holidays from Home Educating Family Association. This beautifully designed planner has everything needed to approach this season with joy and discipline. Articles, menu planning, calendars, shopping lists are all available to help me (and you) plan and organize this precious time of year. This week only, you can download it for FREE (a $19.95 value), thanks to the folks at HEDUA.
Won’t you join me in planning a stress-free Christmas? You and your family will be glad you did!
